Async (formerly Podcastle) is an all-in-one AI-powered platform for recording, editing, and generating audio and video content. Originally launched in 2020 as a Chrome extension that turned articles into podcasts, it grew into a full remote-recording and editing studio before rebranding from Podcastle to Async in January 2026 to reflect its expansion beyond podcasting into video, AI generation, and developer tooling. Existing Podcastle accounts, projects, and billing carried over automatically, so long-time users keep everything they had while gaining access to a much wider toolset. Beyond editing, Async has added a generative layer that gives users access to 100+ third-party AI models for video, image, avatar, and music generation directly inside the same workspace, alongside AsyncFlow for royalty-free music and SFX and Topaz-powered upscaling. A separate developer-facing Voice API also opens up Async's low-latency text-to-speech and voice-cloning models for building conversational AI, IVR systems, and other voice-enabled applications outside the core studio.
