Google Antigravity

Google Antigravity is Google's agentic AI development platform, announced on November 18, 2025 alongside the release of Gemini 3. It replaced the free consumer access tier of Gemini CLI (which ended June 18, 2026) and represents Google's full-stack answer to Cursor, Windsurf, and Kiro. Available as a standalone IDE (Antigravity 2.0), a terminal CLI (Antigravity CLI), and an SDK, Antigravity is a heavily modified VS Code fork — though there is debate whether it is a direct fork of VS Code or a fork of Windsurf (itself a VS Code fork). It is powered primarily by Gemini 3.1 Pro and Flash, with additional support for Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.6, plus OpenAI's GPT-OSS-120B.

Antigravity's defining feature is its agent management infrastructure: the IDE includes an agent manager for orchestrating multiple autonomous agents simultaneously, conversation threads with persistent context, an artifacts panel, scheduled tasks (cron-triggered autonomous workflows), project management with worktree support, and live voice transcription via Gemini Audio models. At Google I/O 2026 (May 19), Antigravity 2.0 launched with the above features plus Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform integration — making Antigravity 2.0 and CLI available to Google Cloud customers. On August 20, 2026, Google introduced IDE extensions so enterprise developers can use Antigravity agents from within their existing VS Code or JetBrains setups without adopting the standalone editor.

Antigravity is currently free during its preview period for individual users. Google AI Pro ($20/month) and Google AI Ultra ($100/month, reduced from $250) are paid tiers with higher AI credit quotas using a combined credit system (Gemini Flash and Pro model credits pooled in a single rate limit drawn down at API pricing ratios). Enterprise access is through the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform under Google Cloud terms.

Google Antigravity is free during its preview period for any user with a Google account. A unified AI credit system applies: credits are drawn down at API-equivalent ratios across Gemini Flash and Pro models (e.g., if Flash is 8x cheaper than Pro, you can use 8x more Flash tokens for the same credit spend).

Google AI Pro at $20/month provides additional AI Premium credits suitable for regular development use. Google AI Ultra was reduced from $250/month to $100/month for a lighter high-frequency tier, with a separate $200/month tier for the highest capacity. Add-on credits can be purchased at any time via the CLI or IDE credits panel.

For GovCloud environments, a paid Gemini Code Assist Standard ($19/user/month) or Enterprise ($45/user/month) license is required — no free tier in GovCloud. Enterprise customers access Antigravity through the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform under Google Cloud terms with centralized admin controls and compliance features.
