Factory

Factory is an agent-native software development platform built around Droids, autonomous AI agents designed to execute real engineering tasks rather than simply suggesting code. Droids read tickets, documentation, and existing codebases, then run commands, edit files, write tests, and submit pull requests for human review, spanning the full software development lifecycle from triage and code generation through validation, release, documentation, and monitoring. Rather than locking developers into a single IDE, model, or interface, Factory is explicitly model-agnostic and interface-agnostic, letting teams work from the terminal, an IDE, the desktop app, Slack, Linear, or a web interface while routing to whichever frontier or open-weight model fits the task, including GPT-5, Claude Opus and Sonnet, and Gemini.

The platform uses a Coordinator-Droid architecture, where a coordinator agent decomposes incoming work and dispatches it to specialized Droids for coding, review, documentation, testing, and knowledge management, each operating inside a sandboxed workspace that mirrors the project's real toolchain. Factory's Droids reached the #1 ranking on Terminal Bench, the industry benchmark also used to evaluate tools like Claude Code and Cursor. Enterprise customers get sovereign deployment options ranging from fully managed SaaS to hybrid, on-premise, and air-gapped environments, alongside SSO, SAML/SCIM provisioning, Zero Data Retention, audit logging, and customer-managed encryption keys.

Founded in 2023 by Matan Grinberg and Eno Reyes in San Francisco, Factory has raised a total of roughly $220 million across five funding rounds, including a $50 million Series B in September 2025 led by NEA and Sequoia Capital with participation from NVIDIA and J.P. Morgan, and a $150 million Series C led by Khosla Ventures in April 2026 that pushed its valuation to $1.5 billion. Factory reports hundreds of thousands of daily developer users across enterprise customers including Nvidia, Adobe, EY, Palo Alto Networks, Adyen, Morgan Stanley, MongoDB, Bayer, and Zapier, with reported gains like 31x faster feature delivery and significantly shorter migration times among named customers.

Factory offers five tiers. Pro is $20/month for individuals, including desktop, CLI, and SDK access, cloud and local background agents, and a billing/usage dashboard. Plus is $100/month with roughly 5x the usage of Pro plus Droid Computers, Factory-managed cloud computers for remote Droids. Max is $200/month with roughly 10x the usage of Pro and early access to new features. Business is custom-priced for growing teams up to 150 seats, adding custom usage limits, dedicated onboarding, SSO, SAML/SCIM provisioning, Zero Data Retention, audit logging, and basic admin controls. Enterprise is custom-priced with unlimited team members, dedicated compute with a partitioned inference pool, an Agent-readiness Improvement Program, on-premise deployment, sub-organizations, full admin controls, customer-managed encryption keys, data residency, and a dedicated account manager with SLA-backed support.
