Bing is Microsoft's search engine, transformed since 2023 into one of the most prominent AI-powered search products on the market through its integration with Copilot. Rather than returning a simple list of blue links, Bing's Copilot Search delivers AI-generated summaries drawn from multiple sources, complete with citations, follow-up suggestions, and a conversational interface that lets users refine or dig deeper into their queries the way they would in a conversation with an expert.

Beyond text-based search, Bing includes a suite of generative AI features under the Copilot umbrella: Bing Image Creator (also branded Copilot Designer) offers free, DALL-E 3-powered image generation directly from the search bar; Visual Search lets users search using photos to identify objects, landmarks, and products, translate on-image text, or even solve math problems; and cross-tab browsing assistance allows Copilot to summarize and compare information across multiple open pages in Microsoft Edge. Bing Copilot itself runs primarily on OpenAI's GPT models, with GPT-5.5 rolling out and Anthropic's Claude models added for commercial customers starting January 2026.

Bing's AI features are free to use with a Microsoft account, with a paid Copilot Pro tier ($20/month) unlocking priority access to premium models and deeper integration across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Because the same underlying AI engine powers Microsoft 365 Copilot, Bing is particularly compelling for users and businesses already embedded in the Windows and Microsoft 365 ecosystem, offering a genuinely competitive alternative to Google for AI-enhanced search, free image generation, and everyday research tasks.

Bing's core search and AI features, including Copilot chat, Copilot Search summaries, image generation via Bing Image Creator, and visual search, are completely free to use with a Microsoft account. Free image generation includes a limited number of faster daily "boosts," after which generations slow down. Copilot Pro, priced at $20/month in the US, adds priority access to premium AI models, faster image generation, and deeper integration with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook within Microsoft 365. Enterprise customers can access Copilot through Microsoft 365 Copilot licensing for organization-wide deployment.
